I would like to start off this post by saying that anyone can make an unforgettably amazing meal with just two things: a deep love of food and good ingredients. With that said, I do have a few kitchen essentials that I use everyday. If you are thinking about investing in some kitchen tools, I would highly recommend these.
I remember very vividly when I first used a microplane. I have a deep love of the acidity that comes from using lemons or limes. And using their juice and their the zest from their skin can achieve very different results. I also love using a microplane on parmesan cheese when I add it to soups and sauces so it melts quickly and consistently.
The more you read my blog, the more you will learn about how much I love citrus. Adding lemon or lime juice can completely transform a dish and having this press makes it easy- no juice squirting into your eye and no burning your fingers trying to scoop a seed out of your soup.
I have a Kitchen Aid food processor and, man, that thing is a work horse. For making dips and spreads to fast bread crumbs with old bread, this thing can handle it all.
Before I had an immersion blender, I spent a lot of time transferring soups and sauces into my food processor then back into the pot and it was a mess. An immersion blender can be your new best friend in the kitchen and bring your cooking to the next level.
When it comes to making pastries, breads and doughs I would not trade my stand mixer for the world. It can be a muscle and time saver and if you love to bake, it would be a worthy investment.
Mortar and Pestle
This tool is a recent introduction into my kitchen and I use it virtually every single day now. From crushing up toasted nuts to through into dishes to liquifying garlic to add to salad dressing, it makes it all so easy.
